ISTP data products fall into the following categories:
• Processed Science data
  • Space Physics Data Availability Catalog (SPDAC)
• Telemetry data
• Near Real-Time data

Processed Science Data
The primary format for all processed ISTP data is the Common Data Format (CDF) using the ISTP/IACG Guidelines. Some products are generated in FITS or ASCII formats instead. See the list below for details.

All suppliers of ISTP processed data products should look at the guidelines for submitting data to CDHF for full details on this process.

Processed science data consists of:

• Key Parameter data in CDF using the ISTP/IACG Guidelines
• Summary data in FITS format for instruments on SOHO.
• Summary data in ASCII format for certain instruments.
• Orbit and attitude data for GEOTAIL, WIND, POLAR, SOHO, and Cluster in CDF using the ISTP/IACG Guidelines.

Access to Key Parameter Data
ISTP Key Parameter data are available through a variety of system; including:

• the ISTP Central Data Handling Facility (CDHF)

• the Coordinated Data Analyisis Web (CDAWeb) System at SPDF

• CDAWeb mirror site at RAL/UK

• CDAWeb mirror site (partial) at MPE-Garching/Germany

• ISTP data mirror site in Brazil

• ISTP data mirror site in Mexico

• ISTP data mirror site in Argentina

• SPDF's Space Physics Catalog (SPyCAT)

The Key Parameter Visualization Tool (KPVT) is an IDL-based application readily accessible to display ISTP data.

KPGS development and test status

The current official ISTP version of CDF is CDF V2.5 All suppliers of ISTP processed data products must use this version which is available on the ISTP CDHF. The most current version along with previous versions are available from the NSSDC.

  • CDF software via anonymous ftp from the SPDF/NSSDC.

Consumers of ISTP data products may use later releases to read data files since backward compatibility is maintained.

Telemetry data formats for the GEOTAIL, WIND, POLAR, and SOHO missions are defined in the "Data Format Control Document (DFCD) Between The International Solar-Terrestrial Physics (ISTP) Program Information Processing Division (IPD) Ground Data Processing System and the ISTP Mission Investigators".
