Priority Science Operations Topic
SPOT 6: 'FAST / Polar Optical Conjunctions'
Date and Time of the Special Operations Period
Time Start 96336 00:00:00
Time End 97090 00:00
Description of the SPOT: spacecraft and ground facility
configurations
During this interval the FAST apogee will be over the northern polar cap and
it will be
possible to obtain high time resolution data (i.e. millisecond particle and
field
measurements) from the poker flat and kiruna ground stations. High time
resolution
particle and field data from FAST in Conjunction with high time and spatial
resolution
imaging data from Polar VIS/UVI and PIXIE will provide a unique opportunity to
systematically investigate the temporal and spatial extent of magnetospheric
ionospheric intereactions.
Special POLAR data instrument operations REQUIREMENTS
Polar VIS/UVI/and PIXIE data imaging either
1) Low spatial, high temporal resolution including one of the three
primary FAST ground coordination sites, poker flat, svalbard, or
kiruna
or 2) following the foot print of the polar satellite with high spatial
resolution VIS capability.
The wavelengths should be chosen to emphasize high time resolution measurements,
that is, not to include wavelengths from states that have very long lifetimes.
Special POLAR despun platform OPERATIONS
