SPOT 11: Microphysics of Auroral Zone Energization (MAZE)
SPOT 11, Microphysics of Auroral Zone Energization (MAZE) will
primarily focus on the two-week interval of May 15-28, 1997 when
the Polar spacecraft will be within one hour of 1000 MLT and 2200
MLT for the passes through the cleft ion fountain and the nightside
auroral region in the southern hemisphere. During the first week
of the study, EFI will configure the Ev antenna in the current
(density) mode and the PWI high frequency waveform receiver will be
configured in the interferometry mode. During the second week of
the study, the PWI high frequency waveform receiver will remain
configured in the interferometry mode and EFI will configure the Ev
antenna in the voltage (default) mode.
