    AURORAL MOVIES FROM POLAR

    • VIS:
      • January 10, 1997, 1-5 UT (Quicktime)
Auroral response following the arrival of the shock preceding the magnetic cloud.
      • January 10, 1997, 10-13 UT (Quicktime)
Aurora show high activity due to substorms resulting from the prolonged Bz south field within the cloud itself.
      • January 11, 1997, 8-13 UT (Quicktime)
The aurora are still very active following the pressure pulse caused by the prominence material.

    • UVI:
      • January 10, 1997, 10-13 UT (Quicktime)
UVI Sequence at the peak of the substorm activity showing the equatorward boundary at 60o latitude and the brightest aurora over Alaska - this is the sequence which was shown on many of the news networks and stills from here appeared in many newspapers and magazines.
